Free Mailboxes for RSOs

As a service to student organizations, the Student Organization Office (SOO) provides mailboxes free of charge for RSOs. They are located in the SOO, Room 239 Red Gym. Mailboxes are issued on a first-come-first-served basis only to registered student organizations. To apply for registered student organization status, click here for the SOO home page.

Mailboxes must be requested each year. The primary contact for the student organization may apply for their organization’s mailbox in two ways:

1. Email soo@odos.wisc.edu and request a mailbox. The request must be sent by the primary contact person and must include the name of the registered student organization.

2. Come in person to SOO, 239 Red Gym. The primary contact person must come to make the request for a mailbox.

Mailboxes are listed by organization name. All mail sent to your organization, must have the full name of the organization in the mailing address, not just the name of a student. Without an organization name, the mail is undeliverable and will be returned to sender. Following is the mailing address for your organization’s mailbox in the Student Organization Office

[Your organization’s full name]

716 Langdon St.
239 Red Gym
Madison, WI 53706

To check if your organization’s mailing address is correct, go to the Directory of Registered Student Organizations. Find your organization by searching by keyword or name of organization and check out the organization’s mailing address for accuracy. Note that any changes to your mailing address must be made by the primary contact person, either in person at the Student Organization Office, 239 Red Gym, or by emailing the SOO at soo@odos.wisc.edu.

It is the organization's responsibility to pick up mail in a timely manner (suggested pick-up time: once per week). If you have a mailbox and no longer need or want it, please inform the SOO, soo@odos.wisc.edu. Mailboxes are cleared at the end of the summer every year.

Rental Mailboxes for RSOs

The Wisconsin Union has mailboxes available for rent on a semester basis. The fee is $10 per semester and summer. For rental information and to signup, in Memorial Union call the office manager of the Facilities Office, 608/262-4400, and in Union South call the Main Office, 608/263-2543.

Mailbox Stuffers for RSO Mailboxes Located in the SOO

Only RSOs and university departments may stuff mailboxes. Approval must be granted prior to stuffing any mailboxes. Bring a copy of the mailbox stuffer to the front desk of SOO, 239 Red Gym for the approval process. No individual addresses are required for mailbox stuffers.

University departments and RSOs may send mail via campus mail, individually addressed. Businesses, non-profit organizations, non-University departments and non-RSOs must send their mail via U.S. mail, individually addressed.
