University Car Fleet
Students and student organizations cannot reserve fleet vehicles
themselves. Registered student organizations may only use university
fleet vehicles if a university department has agreed to sponsor
their
use of university vehicles. If a university department reserves
a fleet vehicle on behalf of the student organization, it must
be used ONLY for state or university business and the purpose of
the travel must fulfill the university or departmental mission.
When a university department accepts the responsibility of reserving
a fleet vehicle for a student organization, the university department
should assist with making all necessary arrangements: reservations,
driver authorization, and funding.
Carefully discuss car fleet arrangements with a sponsoring university
department to determine if they have any additional departmental
procedures, including any additional agreement forms for you to
read and/or sign. The Risk Management website at: www.bussvc.wisc.edu/risk_mgt/drivetable.html provides
information on driver authorization procedures, which the department
will follow in authorizing any student drivers they are sponsoring.
If you have university departmental sponsorship and have been
authorized by Risk Management to drive a university fleet vehicle,
you’ll be expected to abide by the university and state policies
governing the use of fleet vehicles. Refer to the Car Fleet Policies
section of the following website: https://www2.fpm.wisc.edu/ppnew/fleet/policies.htm

Driver and Management Policies and Procedures Manual (Look specifically

Travel
and Stops.)
If a university department cannot support your request to use
a university vehicle because they do not feel the request qualifies
as university business, the student organization may use an outside
rental agency or other mode of transportation.
